Raised on the shores of Gichigami, Northern Ontario singer-songwriter Cassidy Houston creates music that mirrors the natural world - ever-changing, yet resilient. A lush blend of traditional folk storytelling and modern indie melodies, their songwriting serves as an intimate space for self-reclamation.
Here, the storytelling traditions of their Métis ancestry gracefully intertwine with the vulnerable, expansive lens of queer self-discovery, offering a grounded perspective on what it means to honour one's lineage while navigating modern spaces.
Influenced by the conversational storytelling of Sheryl Crow and Rose Cousins, alongside the ethereal power of Florence Welch and Stevie Nicks, Cassidy’s emotion-driven arrangements carry a sophisticated weight that feels both intimate and intentional.
Whether performing barefoot and solo or backed by a tight-knit band of friends, they bring a welcoming, grounded warmth to the stage. This magnetic presence has anchored their growing reputation on stage, carrying them from closing out Thunder Bay’s Live on the Waterfront Series and opening for rock legends Foreigner, to standout sets at Live from the Rock Folk Festival and extensive touring dates across Ontario, Manitoba, and Quebec.
Their sophomore EP, red flag flowers (July 2026), was recorded in Thunder Bay alongside fellow Northern Ontario collaborators, serving as a stunning testament to exploring the quiet resilience of growth, heartbreak, and the ultimate beauty of becoming again.
